For the second discussion board I have decided to give you a chance to look at two very different sides to George Washington’s life: the emotional and the financial. The first article is on Washington’s transformation from a Virginian who never questioned the validity of slavery to a man who freed his own upon his death. The second is about his distilling business. Washington was the largest purveyor of spirits in the Tidewater.
PICK ONE of the articles and write a short summary (500 words or so) that includes your thoughts in regards to his attitude toward slavery or what you learned about a little known side of the man.
