Collinwood midterm question 3: The Scopes Trial

The are few things more misunderstood than the history and of the Scopes Trial. The book “Summer of the Gods,” which one a Pulitzer, has helped. Much of the history on the trial and evolution in the classroom told of a battle between superstition and science in a courtroom, with later being victorious. The most famous example of this is the play “Inherit the Wind.”

In approximately 500 words, citing information from the material provided, describe the trial in Dayton, TN, the misunderstandings of its history, and the controversy that still exists over evolution being taught.
